The River Thame catchment covers 236 2km Tetrads. These are either wholly or partly contained within the catchment boundary and therefore were included in the field work area.
Survey work began on November 1st 2016 and ended on July 30th 2020, including four full winter (November 1st - February 28th) and four full spring/summer (April 1st - July 31st) survey seasons.
Of the 236 Tetrads field work survey coverage was achieved in 234 Tetrads (99% coverage). 936 survey visits were made by 63 volunteers over the four years of the survey project.
Volunteers recorded 153 species and gathered 27,960 records. It is estimated volunteers contributed 3,785 hours of field work over the course of the project.
This compares favourably with coverage achieved in the Bird Atlas 2007-11 where volunteers covered 232 (98%) Tetrads, recorded 136 species and gathered 24,956 records. This relates only to formal Timed Tetrad Visit data only and not any Roving Records
